Frequently asked

The little things you might be wondering.

Everything we get asked about Gather Postpartum. If something's missing, the team would love to hear from you.

Is Gather Postpartum free to use?
Yes. Every mama can set up her village, share an invite, and use the core support coordination for free. A one-time $49 upgrade unlocks the full Village for Mama recipe library, all support categories, dietary preferences, the practitioner directory, the postpartum resource library, and the automated thank-you letter.
Do I need to download an app?
No. Gather Postpartum works in your phone or computer browser.
There's nothing to install — just open gather.villageformama.com from any device. You can add Gather Postpartum to your home screen so it sits alongside your other apps and opens full-screen, but it's not required. A native iOS + Android app is on our roadmap for after launch.
Who is Gather Postpartum for?
Gather Postpartum is built for new and expecting mothers, the family and friends who want to support them, and postpartum practitioners (doulas, midwives, lactation consultants, naturopaths) who coordinate care for their clients. If you have a mama in your life entering her fourth trimester, Gather Postpartum is for you.
What if I don't have a big village?
Gather Postpartum can still help.
Some mothers use Gather Postpartum with a large community around them. Others use it with just a partner, close family member, or a few trusted friends.

Even simply mapping out postpartum support ahead of time can reduce overwhelm and make the fourth trimester feel more manageable.
How does it work?
You sign up, set your gathering window (typically 42 days from your due date), and share an invite link with your village. Family, friends and neighbours browse open slots — meal drops, school runs, errands, support visits — and claim what they can do. You get a beautifully organised calendar of who's doing what and when, with reminders sent automatically.
Is Gather Postpartum only for meals?
No. Meals are just one part of postpartum support.
Gather Postpartum helps coordinate practical support across the fourth trimester — including errands, childcare, school runs, appointments, household help, visits, and more.
How is Gather Postpartum different from Meal Train?
Meal Train is designed for many life events.
Gather Postpartum was built specifically for postpartum — with support categories, recipe tools, reminders, resources, and features designed around the real needs of mothers in the fourth trimester.
What if my baby comes early or late?
Your gathering window can be adjusted any time in Settings. If baby arrives early, pull the start date forward; if late, push it back. Your villagers see the new dates automatically.
Can my partner or a practitioner help manage my village?
Yes. You can invite your partner or a postpartum doula as a "Village Keeper" with co-pilot access — they can add support slots, message your villagers, and manage your calendar on your behalf. Useful when you're recovering and don't want to coordinate it all yourself.
What happens at the end of my gathering window?
Gather Postpartum automatically sends a thank-you email from you to every villager who helped. On the paid tier you can write a personal thank-you letter and include a photo of your baby — sent to all your villagers in one go. No follow-up emails to write manually.
Is my data private?
Yes. Your village is only accessible to people you invite via your private link. Your dietary preferences, birth plan, and household notes are protected at the database level by row-level security. We never sell or share your data. See our privacy policy for the full detail.
